Regular Maintenance is Key for the Proper Operation of your Grade Stamp Printer (ProGSP)

Posted on August 22, 2017

The printing quality of the ProGSP Grade Stamp Printer is largely dependent upon its maintenance. Therefore, it is critical that the people involved are educated in the proper measures to be taken to maintain the grade stamp printer.

Maintenance begins with cleaning the print cartridges. It is recommended to do this at the beginning of each shift and during breaks to ensure proper operation.

Use the following procedure to clean cartridges:

  • Apply a bit of distilled water on a soft, lint-free cloth.
  • Always clean the cartridge by moving the wet cloth in only one direction, from back to front. Be careful not to exert too much force on the cartridge.
  • Now, using the dry side of the cloth, wipe the cartridge in the same direction, from back to front. Be careful not to exert too much force on the cartridge.
  • Once the cleaning is finished, you should see two straight lines on your cloth.

Also, when replacing a print cartridge, it is critical to ensure that the printer is no longer in print mode. This step is important because it cuts the power from the print cartridge.

Here are the steps needed to insert the cartridge into the receptacle:

Ink cartridge installation GSP

  1. Gently raise the locking lever.
  2. Gently insert the cartridge by holding it by both sides and setting it softly into the space provided in the receptacle.
  3. Gently push the cartridge, as shown in the illustration, to put it into place and thus make contact with the electric connections.
  4. Close the locking lever. Be careful not to force the locking lever. If it does not lower easily, this indicates that the cartridge is not properly inserted and forcing it may cause damage to the cartridge and/or receptacle.

Finally, it is critical to replace the ink tank when it is empty to avoid air from entering the tubing, thus causing printing errors. When the tank is empty, a red indicator light will be activated and a signal is sent to the PLC to alert the operator.
